Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Engine bung set - VAS 6122-

Removal:

• Vehicles with TDI engine: Open the clamps -1- and -2-and disconnect air intake hose.
• Seal open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine sealing plug set - VAS 6122- .

• Remove poly V-belt.
• Unplug the connector -2- at the air conditioner compressor regulating valve - N280- .
• Screw out the bolts -arrows- and remove the air conditioner compressor -1-.
• Fasten the air conditioner compressor to the lock carrier using the wire.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal; note the following.

• Thoroughly clean the contact surfaces at the air conditioner compressor and at the holder.
• Insert the dowel sleeves -arrows- in the air conditioner compressor.

Note Ensure that dowel sleeves are properly seated and that contact surfaces are clean. Incorrectly fitted dowel sleeves or dirty/damaged contact surfaces could lead to misalignment between the air conditioner compressor and engine. In the course of operation, misalignment will result in damage to the air conditioner compressor or belt drive.
