Assembly overview - steering box, left-hand drive
| Caution The following work must not be performed while the universal joint is separated from the steering rack: Not adhering to these instructions will result in irreparable damage. |

- - Bolt
- Tightening torque
- - Steering box
- Removing and installing
- Different versions possible.
- With the power steering control unit - J500-
- This may be checked with the "Guided fault location" of the - Vehicle diagnostic tester
Note If a new steering box has been installed, the mounting holes of the heat shield have not yet been drilled.
These are drilled when inserting the bolts of the shield.
- - Nut
- Always renew after removing
- 20 Nm +90º
- - Left wheel bearing housing
- - Bolt
- Always renew after removing
- 70 Nm +90º
- - Sub-frame
- - Right wheel bearing housing
- - Heat shield
- Different versions possible depending on engine version.
- - Bolt
- Either 3x or 4x are fitted depending on engine version.
- 8 Nm
- These bolts are re-usable
- - Wire
